Salary Packaging

Continuing and fixed-term staff are provided the opportunity to salary package a number of items, including vehicles, laptop computers and professional subscriptions.  The University engages NLC Pty Ltd to manage the salary package scheme. Further information is available by visiting NLC or by contacting them on 1800 643 044.  You can also talk to your Human Resources Staffing Advisor for advice on salary packaging arrangements. 

Travel Loan Scheme

To encourage staff to use public transport, the University has a staff travel loan scheme for continuing and fixed-term staff.  The loans involve a fortnightly deduction from your (after-tax) salary to pay for a quarterly or annual MyMulti or MyTrain ticket.

Bike Hubs

The BikeHubs are facilities designed to assist staff and students in cycling to Macquarie University.  There are two BikeHubs on the campus and each contains an undercover bicycle parking enclosure for 26 bicycles as well as 28 lockers and 2 showers.  They are locked securely and accessed via an electronic swipe-pass administered by the Office of Facilities Management.

On-Campus Childcare

All continuing or fixed-term staff members of the University have the benefit of priority placement for your children in our on-site Banksia Cottage childcare centre. This is an independent childcare provider, which is not part of a large network. Your child will be stimulated by the large spacious, light and friendly environment while being cared for by childhood professionals in a safe, nurturing and development-focused centre.

Our other childcare centre Gumnut Cottage is available for childcare arrangements with priority given to students.

Events

Macquarie University hosts and is involved in many events across the year that staff can get involved in.  Examples include seminars, movie screenings, plays and concerts.  The Marketing Unit keep a calendar of all events on campus.

Discounts

As a Macquarie University staff member, you’re eligible for a range of discounts on-campus, including food and beverages and access and membership to the Sport & Aquatic Centre.  The University also has arrangements with a number of businesses outside the campus.

You’ll need to show your Staff Card (Campus Card) to redeem any discounts.  Find out more information about obtaining your staff card.

Concessional Days

The university is closed between Christmas and New Year and staff are given three days off over this period. These are in addition to their annual leave entitlement.
